I have been dying to write up an article about the best electric smoker for fish for some time now. As anyone who knows may will know, I may be a newbie when it comes to smoking meats but I sure love fish. And, being a being a bit of an afficionado, I can tell a fish that will taste really good from one that just looks good – and, believe me, they aren’t always the same thing! So, when Dave at Electric Smoker World asked me to do a review I was really excited. I headed into the marketplace and did some research so, if you are interested to see what I came up with, then please continue to read this article….
It’s a good thing that some of my buddies are avid meat smokers. They had a lot of ideas about different smoker recipes and they are familiar with the different brands of smokers and smoking machines. I learned most of my first real lessons in slow smoking and fish smoking from these guys.
After getting all the recommendations and tips my buds gave me, I narrowed it them down to 2 of the best options <drum roll>.
So, I’m talking about the Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Smokehouse Smoker and the Bradley BTIS1 Original Fully Automatic 4-Rack Outdoor Food Smoker. I know that these are two very popular brands and I think they’re very reliable electric smokers.
I would love to share my thoughts and impressions about each of these two options.
OPTION 1: Masterbuilt 20070910 30-Inch Electric Smoker
Perfect Temperature Range
I know that some folks out there often complain that electric smokers don’t reach the kind of temperatures that are perfect for certain types of meat. However, since this smoker can reach up to 275 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s just right for smoking fish. That’s enough to put a big smile on my face.
One of my buddies explained that the outside temperature can affect the smoker’s performance if it isn’t insulated. Luckily this one is!
Next, because I’m practically an idiot when it comes to reading those bar thermometers I was happy to discover that this thing has an easy to read digital display.
Finally, of the two smokers being reviewed, this one is the more affordable. So, I basically get the same performance from the Masterbuilt smoker but, for a lower price.
OPTION 2: Bradley Smoker BTDS76P 990216
Wood Bisquette Feeding System
This is one of the features of the Bradley smoker that really impressed me. It allowed me to add wood chips without having to open the door and so I didn’t lose heat during the whole smoking process.
Just like the Masterbuilt electric smoker above, the Bradley BTIS1 Outdoor Food Smoker also maintained the perfect fish smoking temperature range. It can maintain the temperature from 180 to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and, just like the Masterbuilt model above, this Bradley also has four racks. This simply means more room for more meat so, really from a usability aspect there’s not much between them.
So, when it comes down to it…..
Whats The Best Electric Smoker for Fish – Final Verdict
My bet for the best electric smoker for fish is the Masterbuilt 20070910 Electric Smoker. It has all the features I need and it is also saves me a good deal of money – a really good bargain if you ask me.
